Described as “A highly expressive performer who extracts the essences of drama, humour, devilry, romance and sentiment.” (Michael Moran, The Reviewer's Notebook), Oscar Wong was born Sydney in 1998. He began learning the piano at age six and was granted early entry to the Queensland Conservatorium, graduating with distinction. He then studied at the École Normale de Musique de Paris and completed his Masters degree at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. His principal teachers include Katarzyna Popowa-Zydron, Pawel Wakarecy, Jean-Bernard Pommier, Timothy Young and Natasha Vlassenko. He also studied on historical instruments with Tomasz Ritter. Oscar is First Prize winner of the Antonin Radziwill Competition for Foreign Pianists (Poland, 2024), International Chopin Competition in ASIA (Japan, 2023), Premio Elisabeth Tschaikowsky (Switzerland, 2022), Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition (Australia, 2017) and won a Special Prize in the Vigo International Piano Competition (Spain, 2025). He is also winner of the highly coveted Sydney Eisteddfod Kawai Piano Scholarship, Theme and Variations Foundation Award and the Australian Conce rto and Vocal Competition in his native country. As soloist with orchestra, he has performed concerti by J.S. Bach, Mendelssohn, Chopin, Schumann, Henze, Saint Saens and Tchaikovsky, working with renowned maestros Gerard Schwarz, Johannes Fritzsch, Patrick Pickett, Mark Turpin and Michal Dworzynski, collaborating with ensembles including the Queensland Symphony, Queensland Conservatorium Symphony, Queensland Pops, Brisbane Philharmonic, Gold Coast Philharmonic, ANAM Symphony, ANAM Baroque Orchestra, Southern Cross Soloists, AMFN Symphony Bydgoszcz and the Poland Evolution String Quartet. He has also worked as an orchestral pianist under Simone Young AM and José Maria Florêncio at the Pomeranian Philharmonic in Poland. Oscar has performed extensively in France, Germany, Russia, Poland, Spain, Italy, Malta, Slovenia, Switzerland, China, Japan, New Zealand and throughout Australia. He has participated in masterclasses in Moscow, Hamamatsu, Sydney, Gorizia and Radziejowice, receiving guidance from artists such as Angela Hewitt, Finghin Collins, Robert McDonald, Tamás Ungár, Natalia Troull, Elisso Virsaladze, Wojciech Switala, Daejin Kim, Chen Sa and Alexander Gadjiev.
