Dmitrii Kalashnikov is a concert pianist whose performances are distinguished by depth, clarity, and a refined sense of expression. His artistry has taken him to renowned stages including the House of Music in Moscow, the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Wigmore Hall in London, and major venues throughout the United Kingdom, United States, France, Austria, Italy, Poland, Belgium, Spain, Germany, and other countries. In June 2025, Dmitrii performed at the Entre Quintas Festival in Portugal, giving a recital at Quinta de Casal Branco that was received with rapturous applause. Recent highlights also include appearances at the Blüthner Festival , the Lille Piano Festival , and performances in Madeira and Vienna.
He has appeared as a soloist with the Russian National Orchestra under Mikhail Pletnev and has participated in masterclasses with renowned artists such as Sir András Schiff, Lang Lang, Stephen Hough, and Imogen Cooper, among others. Dmitrii's artistry has been recognized through numerous international piano competitions. He was awarded Second Prize at the Isidor Bajic Piano Memorial in Serbia (2023) and was a finalist and diploma recipient at the Concours International de Piano à Mayenne (2025). He also took part in the Scottish International Piano Competition (2023) and Classic Piano 2024 in Dubai.
Born in Moscow, Dmitrii began studying piano at the age of five at the Gnessin Special School of Music under Ada Traub and Tatyana Vorobieva. He later graduated with honors from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory , where he studied with Professor Elena Kuznetsova. In 2018, Dmitrii moved to London to pursue postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Music with Professor Vanessa Latarche. During his time there, he won the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Rosebowl and the Jacques Samuel Intercollegiate Piano Competition , and appeared as a soloist with the RCM Symphony Orchestra. The Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Rosebowl was presented to him personally by His Majesty King Charles III (then Prince of Wales).
He completed his studies with distinction and later continued at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under Professor Anna Malikova. For many years, he has studied with Mira Yevtich , whose ongoing mentorship and generous support continue to shape his artistic development. Dmitrii is deeply grateful for the patronage and support of Lady Meryl Walters . He currently resides in London.
