Madeleine Mitchell has performed as solo violinist and chamber musician in 50 countries in a wide repertoire, frequently broadcast for radio and TV, in festivals including the BBC Proms. She represented Britain in UKinNY at Lincoln Centre, the Canberra International Festival, and the Queen's Jubilee in Rome. She has performed concertos with orchestras including BBCNOW, Polish Radio Symphony, Kiev Radio/TV, the Royal Philharmonic and in the USA. Her recordings have been nominated for Grammy and BBC Music Awards, including pieces written for her by leading composers and she won a Royal Philharmonic Society award to make a filmed concert from the V&A Fabergé exhibition. She founded and directs the Red Violin festival and the London Chamber Ensemble. Following the success of their Howells & Wood Quartets album 2024 they are recording a further album of Charles Wood and performing at the Three Choirs and English Music festivals 2026.
Kirsten Jenson has a broad career as a chamber musician and soloist. She made her solo debut playing the Schumann Cello Concerto with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra while studying with renowned pedagogue Johannes Goritzki. She has recorded for Channel Classics and Bis Records, and toured internationally as cellist in the Ragazze Quartet in Holland. Major festivals include the Piatigorsky Cello Festival and Hatfield House, and she has guested with ensembles such as the historic Allegri Quartet, Primrose Piano Quartet and United Strings of Europe (their recent Wigmore Hall concert was broadcast live on Radio 3). Kirsten has just completed a concert tour of China, appearing as a soloist and chamber musician in several major cities. She joins LCE Quartet for Schubert Quintet in HHH Concerts 13.12.25.
Julian Milford studied piano and piano accompaniment in Vienna, Philadelphia, and London, and has given concerts as a chamber musician or accompanist with many leading singers and instrumentalists, including Sir Thomas Allen, Dame Sara Connolly, and Dame Felicity Lott. He has recorded for major independent record labels including, Chandos, Hyperion, Orchid Classics and Carlton Classics. He has appeared frequently on BBC Radio 3 and in major concert halls and festivals in the UK, Europe, and the USA, including The Proms Chamber Music series and the Edinburgh International Festival. He also works as a barrister.
