Programme to be announced at the concert

Adam Dyer is a graduate of Christ's College, Cambridge and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Having grown up playing classical music since the age of seven, he took to playing jazz piano in his mid-teens. Following his time at the Guildhall he travelled to Scandinavia to study jazz for two years on a scholarship. He has performed with various well known jazz musicians, such as Bobby Wellins, Dan Berglund and Gregory Porter, and teaches a course in jazz composition for Morley College, London.

His trio with Eric Ford (drums) and Jakub Cywinski (bass), have recently recorded his debut album, River Spirit, with guest performer Duncan Eagles (saxophone) on some numbers. River Spirit consists mainly of original compositions, some of which have a Nordic-infused “ECM” sound, and others more closely follow the American tradition. David Hazeltine, the New York jazz pianist, is a fan of the compositions, which he played though prior to the recording session. “In some ways the compositions remind me of early Chick Corea”.
