Affinity Quartet was formed in 2014 when we were students of the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM). In 2015 we completed an ANAM Fellowship and won first prize in the ANAM Chamber Music Competition. In 2016 our quartet received an Australia Council for the Arts Grant and E.V. Llewellyn Scholarships for quartet development in UK and Germany We studied with Thomas Adès at the 2016 International Musicians Seminar; undertook mentorships with members of the Doric, Brodsky, Belcea, and Kuss Quartets; and performed 9 concerts in the UK and Germany. In Australia we perform concerts and festivals, giving Australian première performances of the complete string quartets of Janácek, Pavel Haas, Benjamin Britten and Sir Andrzej Panufnik. Affinity Quartet explores the rich diversity of string quartet repertoire to bring classical music to wider audiences. Described by Classic Melbourne as ‘one of the most exciting young ensembles to make their mark', the Quartet has given Australian premieres of works by Janácek, Haas, Britten and Panufnik, and world premieres by Jack Symonds (AU) and Matt Laing (AU). Affinity Quartet has represented Australia at Prussia Cove International Musicians Seminar (U.K.), Southbank Centre's Yehudi Menuhin Festival (U.K.), and the Amsterdam String Quartet Biennale.

Australian mezzo soprano Lotte Betts-Dean has been based in London since 2014 and works internationally. Her performance experience encompasses contemporary repertoire, early music, art song, opera, experimental music and non-classical collaborations. She is a vocalist with ensemble x.y, an Associate Artist with the Southbank Sinfonia, and a regular collaborator with guitarist Andrey Lebedev. She is also a Yeoman of the Musician's Company, a City Music Foundation Artist, and recently won the 2019 Oxford Lieder Young Artist Platform. Lotte is represented in Australia and New Zealand by Emblem Artists.
