Hong Kong-born pianist Chiyan Wong has been astonishing audiences with the sincerity and authority of his playing. Recently he was awarded the prestigious 40th Grand Prix du Disque by the Franz Liszt Society in Budapest, Hungary, in recognition of his critically-acclaimed debut album Liszt Transfigured: Operatic Fantasies for Piano on LINN Records, which features Liszt's operatic transcriptions completed and edited by Chiyan himself.

This summer, Chiyan will be making his recital debut at the Proms at St. Judes Festival in London, and perform in a duo recital with the Chinese violist, Diyang Mei at the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Later in the year, he will be making his debut in China as well as giving performances of Beethoven's Fifth Piano Concerto. He has made successful debuts with the Okko Kamu and Singapore Symphony Orchestra in Prokofiev's Second Piano Concerto, with Edward Gardner at the Royal Academy of Music, and with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, where he was immediately re-invited for the following season. He returned to the Singapore International Piano Festival in 2017 and in the same year, performed at the Salzburg Mozarteum, and gave performances of Bach's Goldberg Variations at the Stoller Hall in Manchester, Church of St. Martin-in-the-Fields in London, as well as in Rome.

Other debuts include the Hong Kong Arts Festival, the Wigmore Hall (all-Liszt recital), the International Music Festival in Dinard, France at the invitation of Kun-Woo Paik, the 19th Singapore International Piano Festival, and in Sacile, Italy. Chiyan was invited to return to Hong Kong for a Liszt live broadcast recital as part of the city's celebration of the composer's bicentenary, sponsored by the Radio Television Hong Kong Corporation.

Chiyan has received prizes at the International Piano Competition in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz in Ukraine, the Premio Liszt in Parma, as well as the Hattori Foundation in London. He was the sole recipient of the Bernard van Zuiden Music Fund of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and won First Prize at the Jaques Samuel Pianos Intercollegiate Piano Competition.

Chiyan began his piano studies in his hometown aged six with Grace Man. He moved to England to pursue his studies at the Chethams School of Music and Royal Northern College of Music under Norma Fisher. He has studied composition with Naji Hakim in Paris and graduated from the Royal Academy of Music, where he worked with Christopher Elton. Chiyan is currently pursuing further music studies as a Lee Hysan Foundation Scholar.
