Kokila Gillett (violin) commenced her violin studies at Junior Guildhall, where she won the 2001 Lutine Prize and was a scholar at the Purcell School . She won a scholarship to the Royal College of Music, studying with Felix Andrievsky and graduated with first class honours in 2006. She won several prizes at the RCM and elsewhere, and recently reached the string finals of Royal Over-Seas Music competition . She has performed at prestigious venues in London and elsewhere, including the Royal Festival Hall and Wigmore Hall, and played on Channel 4. She plays in a the ‘Philomel' duo with pianist Pavel Timofejevksy, and they will be performing in Mumbai in July.
Thomas Hankey (violin) studied the violin with David Takeno, Krzyzstof Smietana, Levon Chilingirian and Yossi Zivoni. He has performed at major concert halls and festivals in Europe and Canada , and won prizes including the 2006 Royal Over-Seas League ensemble prize. He was a BBC Radio Three New Generation Artist with the Aronowitz Ensemble. He is a member of the Na Mara, Kreisler and Sounds Underground Ensembles, and has worked with many leading UK orchestras.
Arun Menon (viola) was born in London and studied the Royal College of Music. He is the violist in the Brodowski String Quartet and has performed chamber music across the UK , USA and elsewhere. He has worked with several of the leading UK orchestras, including performing as co-principal viola of the Southbank Sinfonia, and played concertos with several orchestras. He frequently gives recitals with his duo partner, Daniel Smith. Together they won second prize in the Royal Overseas League Viola Competition in 2005.
Meherban Gillett (double-bass) studied at the Purcell School , Chetham's, at the Geneva Conservatoire and at the Guildhall School . He was a String Finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year, a finalist in the Royal Overseas League Competitions in 2003 and 2004, and has won prizes in several international competitions, including 4 th prize at the Koussevitsky competition. He has played in major venues and festivals throughout Europe . He has held posts with the Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin and the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse and currently freelances with the major UK orchestras.
