Ji Liu (piano) was born in China in 1990 and began the piano when aged 3. He studied piano and conducting at Shanghai from 2000 to 2006, and since then has studied with Dmitri Bashkirov in Madrid , and at the Royal Academy of Music on a scholarship with Christopher Elton. He won first prize in several international competitions in China, USA , Rumania and Canada , and made his Carnegie Hall debut when aged 13. He made his debut in Switzerland and at the Queen Elisabeth Hall, South Bank in 2007, playing Bach's Goldberg variations. Since then he has performed in Asia, America and Europe . He has played in major festivals including the Verbier Festival, Switzerland in 2005 and 2006, and has won many other awards, including the Martin Musical Award from the Phiharmonia Orchestra in 2008 and 2009.
Fenella Humphreys (violin) was brought up in Ealing, and studied at the Purcell School and the Guildhall School and completed her studies in Dusseldorf . Over the past few years, she has given concerto and recital performances at many prestigious venues. She has been awarded Making Music's 2005 Philip and Dorothy Green Award for Young Concert Artists, and her duo with pianist Helen Reid was chosen for the Park Lane Group's 2006 series at London 's South Bank Centre. She has given many concerts at St Marys Perivale and St Barnabas over the past 10 years.
Matthew Huber (cello) is from the UK , and is studying at the Eastman School of Music, New York, where he studies with Steven Doane. He has played recitals in Europe, Scandinavia, and the USA , and studied with several of the world's leading cellists. He is a regular attendee of the International Musicians Seminar at Prussia Cove, Cornwall , and has been invited back to Open Chamber Music there in September 2009. Matthew plays on a rare cello by Francesco Ruggieri, Cremona , 1685.
Alasdair Beatson (piano) is from Scotland , and gained a scholarship to the Royal College of Music, graduating with first class honours, and subsequently studied at Indiana University , USA . He won second prize in the China Shanghai International Piano Competition in 2003, and won the 2005 Philip and Dorothy Green (Making Music) Award for Young Concert Artists, as well as various other awards. He has performed in prestigious venues throughout the world, and is in much demand as a recitalist, concerto soloist and chamber musician.
