Hugh Mather (piano) studied the piano and organ from an early age, gaining Gold and Silver medals in Associated Board exams. He gained the FRCO diploma while still at school, and subsequently gained the ARCM (piano performers) diploma. He then pursued a medical career and was Consultant Physician at Ealing Hospital from 1982 to 2006. He continued his piano studies with James Gibb over many years, and gave innumberable concerts in West London and elsewhere as concerto soloist, recitalist and chamber musician, including performances of concerti by Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Chopin, Schumann, Brahms, Grieg and Gershwin. He is Chairman of the Friends of St Mary's Perivale and has organised over 500 concerts at St Mary's Perivale and St Barnabas in the past 7 years.
