Natalia Strelchenko was born in Russia in 1976, and studied at the St Petersburg Conservatory from 1984 to 1997. In 1990 she won first prize at the National Russian Youth Championship. She has lived in Norway since 1997, graduating from the Norwegian State Academy with highest honours. She has given concerts throughout Europe and the USA. She has performed all the Liszt Transcendental Studies at the Wigmore Hall and the Carnegie Hall, and recorded them on CD. She is also a musicologist with an interest in historical piano techniques and has been awarded a PhD from Norway's leading music academy. She has recorded 11 CDs as well as TV and radio broadcasts in Norway and elsewhere. Her four Wigmore solo recitals have received rare acclaim, with the Times Review stating ‘ The next time Natalia Strelchenko comes to town, be there.
