Mia Cooper (violin) studied at Chetham's School and the Royal Northern College of Music. She was principal first violin of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for five years, and still plays and records with London 's chamber orchestras and ensembles, including the Fibonacci Sequence, Barbican Trio, Brodsky Quartet and Academy of St Martin in the Fields. She has also been guest leader of the CBSO and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. She is now leader of the RTE Concert Orchestra and lives in Dublin . She teaches at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Matthew Sharp (cello) was born in Lisbon and studied in Cologne , at Cambridge and in London . He made his concerto debut as solo cellist aged twelve at St. John's , Smith Square and since then has performed at major venues and festivals throughout the world. In 1991 he was awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society's Julius Isserlis Scholarship. He has also followed a parallel path into opera as a bass-baritone. Recent highlights include Papageno and the title role in the new commission of The Pied Piper for Opera North, appearances as soloist with the LPO at the QEH, tours of the Elgar and Dvorak concertos with the Orchestra-of-the-Swan, and recitals in Paris , Stockholm , Philadelphia and across the UK .
Viv McLean (piano) , the winner of the First Prize at the 2002 Maria Canals International Piano Competition in Barcelona , has performed at all the major venues in the UK as well as throughout Europe, Japan , Australia and the USA . His has played concerti with most major UK orchestras, performed chamber music with leading groups such as the Ysaye String Quartet and the Leopold String Trio. Viv studied at the Royal Academy of Music and was the piano winner at the Royal Overseas-League Music Competition and one of three winners of the National Federation of Music Societies' Young Artists Competition, leading to various recitals and concerto appearances throughout Great Britain . Viv has recorded regularly for BBC Radio 3 and recorded for Sony Classical Japan and Naxos , as well as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra's own label.
