Ezgi Sarikcioglu was born in 1994 in Turkey and studied at the Istanbul University State Conservatory. She is now a postgraduate student at the Royal College of Music, studying on a scholarship with Itzhak Rashkovsky. She has won various awards including the 1st prize at “Berlin International Music Competition - Sforzando”the 1st prize at the “Internet Music Competition” and the 1st prize at Paris Slave De Musique Conservatory competition “We Play Together” as well as several others. She has performed widely in Turkey and elsewhere. She is generously sponsored by Talent Unlimited and Nejat Eczacibasi Foundation, and plays on a violin made by John Nebel, 1887.

Kumi Matsuo was born in Tokyo, Japan. Winner of the 5th Louisiana International Piano Competition, she has also won numerous other international competitions. After graduating from the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo, Kumi studied at the Royal College of Music where she completed her Artist Diploma, Master's degree and the Anthony Saltmarsh Junior Fellow in Accompaniment. She won the RCM concerto competition twice. She has also played Schnittke's Concerto Grosso No.1 conducted by Vladimir Jurowski at the Queen Elisabeth Hall. Kumi made her debut at Carnegie Hall in 2014 and a tour in New Orleans with Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra performing Beethoven's Emperor Concerto in 2015

Trio Opal comprises three prize-winning musicians from Taiwan, Japan and Germany, and was founded in 2017 at the Royal Academy of Music. Each player's extensive experience has led them to win competitions, be orchestral leaders, perform on live radio and more. As a trio, they were nominated by the Academy to be the representatives in the 2018 Intercollegiate Piano Trio Competition in Birmingham, in which they were awarded 1st prize. They were also chosen to attend the 2018 Trondheim Academy in Norway and the inaugural Birmingham International Piano Chamber Music Festival in November 2018. For the academic year 2018-2019, Trio Opal has been invited to be the CAVATINA Trio-In-Residence at the Royal Academy of Music.They have received coaching from world-renowned professors such as violinist György Pauk, cellist Christoph Richter and pianist Michael Dussek. Furthermore, they will take part in the ChamberStudio masterclass scheme at Kings Place, London with Alasdair Beatson.
