Young Bulgarian pianist Evgeny Genchev has been steadily gaining wider recognition and critical acclaim. He has given numerous recitals and concerts across Europe, North America, China and Australia, and has won prizes at more than fifteen national and international piano competitions. He was born in Bulgaria and began his piano studies in his hometown, Plovdiv. During this time, Genchev won numerous prizes at National and International competitions, including the Grand Prix from the Peter de Grote Festival, Groningen, 2006; First Prize from the Valery Gavrilin International Youth Competition, Vologda, Russia, 2007; and First Prize from the LISMA International Competition, New York. On completion of his course in 2008, Genchev was presented with the Dobrin Petkov Grand Award for Musical Achievements. Genchev continued his education at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied piano under Christopher Elton and Hamish Milne, and the International Piano Academy ‘Incontri col Maestro' in Imola, Italy, under the Russian pianist Boris Petrushansky (until 2013). He has recently finished the Artist Diploma programme at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London with Ronan O'Hora and Martin Roscoe, after graduating with Distinction from the Master in Performance course. 2015/16 season highlights have included performances at St Martin-in-the-Fields, Steinway Hall, LSO St Luke's, and Milton Court Hall, London; Bridgewater Hall, Manchester; Peterskirche, Vienna; Kaufman Centre, New York; and the Newbury Spring Festival. Performances in the 2016/17 season include a debut recital at the Centro Nacional de las Artes, Mexico City as part of the ‘En Blanco y Negro' Festival, season opening concert with Jesus Medina and OSUANL, Monterrey, performances in Westfalenhallen, Dortmund; Mercedes Arena, Berlin; and concert tours in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy. Recent Festival appearances have included the Kissinger Sommer Festival, the City of London Festival, Sofia Music Weeks, the Brahms Festival at the Royal Academy of Music in London, in collaboration with the cellist Luka Sulic, the Plovdiv Chamber Music Festival, performing with the cellist Atanas Krastev, the International Keyboard Institute and Festival (IKIF) in New York, the Oxford Philomusica Piano Festival and The Holland International Music Sessions.
