German-Japanese pianist, Caterina Grewe, was born in Tokyo in 1988 and studied in Hamburg, Chetham's School of Music and the Royal College of Music, where she graduated with distinction. Caterina has won numerous prizes including First Prize at the Nissin International Music Competition in Tokyo in 2002, First Prize at the Young Musician Competition in Germany in 2005, First Prize (RCM Kendal Taylor Beethoven Piano Prize) at the annual RCM Beethoven Piano Competition and Second Prize at the Intercollegiate Beethoven Piano Competition in 2009, First Prize at the Lagny-Sur-Marne International Piano Competition in Paris in 2010, First Prize at the Norah Sande Award in Eastbourne in 2010, and First Prize at the 2011 Mayenne International Piano Competition in France. She was also awarded the HRH Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Rose Bowl by the Prince of Wales at the Royal College of Music (RCM) for her outstanding achievements during her studies at the RCM. Caterina most recently won First Prize at the 6th Rhodes International Piano Competition in Greece. She has performed in many prestigious venues in the UK, Germany and Russia and made several broadcasts. She gave several performances of Liszt's First Piano Concerto with the RCM Symphony Orchestra as part of the International Wimbledon Music Festival after having won the RCM concerto competition in 2012. Other recent engagements include a performance of Tchaikovsky's First Piano Concerto with the Oldenburg State Orchestra and recitals in France and the UK.
