Kausikan Rajeshkumar was born in London in 1990 and won a scholarship to the Purcell School in 1999. He was a Piano Finalist of the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition in both 2006 and 2008, and in 2009 won the International Franz Liszt Competition for Young Pianists in Weimar. He then read music at Cambridge, graduating with First Class Honours, and winning the CUSO and Cambridge University Musical Society concerto competitions and other awards. He is now a scholarship postgraduate student at the Royal College of Music, where he won the Hopkinson Gold Medal, and gained his Master of Music in Performance with distinction. In 2013 he won 2 nd prize in the Darmstadt International Chopin Competition in Germany, and 1st Prize at the Maria Herrero International Piano Competition 2013 in Spain . Recent engagements include a recital tour in Spain, concerts in Germany, and an appearance in the RCM 'Rising Stars' series at the Cadogan Hall, London. He is also supported by the Craxton Memorial Trust and the Martin Musical Scholarship Fund.
