The Rautio Trio is one of Britain's most dynamic chamber ensembles. Performing with tremendous energy and musical strength, the three outstanding players bring together an instinctive flair and creativity to the music of the piano trio genre. The award-winning Trio has received widespread acclaim for innovative programming, from cutting-edge contemporary music to period instrument performance recreating the sound world of Mozart on fortepiano, and performing Mendelssohn on 19th century pianos. They present highly imaginative and often rarely performed works, alongside the cornerstones of the repertoire. Celebrating the life and music of Shostakovich on the 40th anniversary of his death, the trio will be performing at Kings Place in September. Next season they will be continuing the Russian theme exploring 19th century romantic Russian music from Rachmaninov, Rimsky-Korsakov and Arensky to the often neglected trios by Anton Rubinstein.

The Trio have performed across the UK and Europe, with concerts at the Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room, Bridgewater Hall, St George's Bristol as well as live on BBC Radio 3. They have given concerts at the Haydn-Saal in Vienna, Pablo Casals Festival in France, SOUND contemporary music festival in Scotland, Haydn Festival and Shostakovich International Festival. Recent highlights include recitals for the London Bach Society Bachfest playing rarely performed trios by JC Bach and giving their debut in Germany at the Hambacher Musikfest. Last season they gave performances of the complete cycle of Mozart piano trios on fortepiano, notably at St George's Bristol and at the Tel Aviv Museum of Arts.

Future plans for 2016 include performing a cycle of both Mendelssohn trios at St George's Bristol paired with trios by JC Bach, known as the ‘London Bach'. They will be releasing their first disc of Mozart trios later in the year, recorded with fortepiano.

The Rautio Trio was formed at the Royal Academy of Music and IMS Prussia Cove. They have been recipients of many prestigious awards from the Tillett Trust Young Artist Platform, the Worshipful Company of Musicians' Maisie Lewis Wigmore Award, the Park Lane Group Award and the Musicians' Benevolent Fund Ensemble Award. Individually they are recipients of numerous scholarships and awards for their solo work, and collectively they bring a depth of experience from working with some of the world's most distinguished musicians in Europe and America
