Ealing Youth Orchestra is an independent youth orchestra well known for its vibrant and exciting performances of a wide range of mainly 19th and 20th century symphonic works and concertos. The orchestra has about 75 members aged between 13 and 19 years from a wide range of backgrounds who attend more than 20 different schools around west London. EYO gives young players the experience of rehearsing and performing music to a very high standard. EYO gives four or more concerts a year in various west London venues and also performs at prestigious venues such as The Royal Festival Hall. A highlight of the year is the annual European summer tour when the orchestra gives three concerts and has a great deal of fun! Recent destinations include Germany, Poland, Belgium, France and Spain. Recent works have included Saint-Saëns Organ Symphony, Rimsky-Korsakov's  Scheherazade, Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue and Vaughan Williams' A London Symphony. EYO is a self-funded charity and full bursaries are available for subscriptions and tour costs. The orchestra is conducted by its inspirational Music Director Leon Gee who has an established reputation working with talented young musicians. British pianist Gamal Khamis has recently graduated from the Artist Diploma course at the Royal College of Music. Having studied at the RCM Junior Department, Gamal completed an undergraduate degree in Mathematics at Imperial College London before undertaking a Masters in Advanced Performance. He has performed at such venues as the Wigmore Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Cadogan Hall. Gamal works with a wide variety of singers and instrumentalists, and was recently awarded first prizes at both the Joan Chissell Schumann Competition and the Brooks-van der Pump English Song Competition for singers and pianists at the RCM, and the Accompanist Prize at the the RCM Lies Askonas Singing Competition.
